The legislation, Public Chapter 148, has three key components: To inform and educate coaches, youth athletes and their parents and require them to sign a concussion information form before competing. To require removal of a youth athlete who appears to have suffered a concussion from play or practice at the time of the suspected concussion. To require a youth athlete to be cleared by a licensed health care professional before returning to play or practice. Both public and private school sports and recreational leagues for children under age 18 that require a fee are affected by the new law. The law covers all sports. In attendance were Susan, Bob, Bobby, Alex and Pope. Here is a copy of the press release. The Board of Directors of the Jackson Area Wide Soccer Association (JAWS) recently announced that it will commit to the City of Jackson up to $25,000 to be used toward the renovation of the fields at Kate Campbell and other maintenance and improvements to the City of Jackson soccer fields. This commitment will be the first of an ongoing pledge to provide the City of Jackson every three years of up to $25,000 for maintenance of soccer fields. JAWS hopes that this pledge of up to $25,000 will help bring the fields at Kate Campbell Park back up to standards, and provide a safe field of play; as well as providing additional funding for maintenance over the next 3 years. JAWS understands the importance of maintenance and has assisted the City of Jackson in the past with projects directed solely toward field maintenance. It is JAWS’ hope that in the future, donations to the City of Jackson can be used for the purpose of undertaking new projects (example: lights for North Park, New Soccer Complex, etc.), developing new programs (example: soccer for South Jackson, 3v3 tournament, etc.) and continuing to grow soccer in Jackson. ___________________________________________________________ PLAYER DEVELOPMENT Instructional Video For Dribbling Instructional Video For Passing Instructional Video For Shooting Instructional Video For Turns Instructional Video For Juggling Please Note: All of these instructional videos were recorded for the "Quicktime Player". This donation will go toward the purchase of new goals for refurbishing Murray Field to put back into service 6 full size practice fields. The remainder of the donation will be utilized to sod the baseball fields at North Park where the clay is on the fields, so as to provide more playable surfaces as well as safer playing fields.
